Filza XXI delle scritture de signori Medici, segnata con la lettera X, 1424-1691.

Collection of legal and financial documents (for the most part original, but with some 16th- and 17th-century copies), correspondence, and miscellaneous items in two parts. The first part concerns the activities of numerous members of the Medici family and their counterparts (mainly engaging in grain and textile trade). However, transactions related to the sale and purchase of real property (usually accompanied by inventories), money lending (for example with Philip III, King of Spain), and everyday expenses are also present. A small number of documents pertain to the affairs of other Florentine families, such as the Strozzi, the Detti, the Giraldi, and the Segni. In the first part of the collection, genealogical tables for some of the families sometimes precede credit records. The second part primarily consists of accounts related to farm management (in particular for the Medici farms of Montecatini and Valdinievole, outside Florence); debts and credits with local investors; records of financial operations between members of the Medici family and the Florentine mint; and documents dealing with real estate sale and renovation. An extensive amount of correspondence (with correspondents in Florence, Pistoia, Pisa, Naples, and Messina) covers legal, commercial (grain and silk trade in particular), and occasionally personal matters. Miscellaneous documents are scattered throughout the second part of the collection and they pertain to tax collection on behalf of the Florentine government, either directly by members of the Medici family, or by local noblemen contracted by them; memoranda documenting the expenses to send Florentine ambassadors to numerous Italian and European destinations after the death of the Grand-duke of Tuscany, Francesco I de' Medici; genealogical tables of the Pucci family of Florence; and drawings in ink of a well.
